What Gets Into the House

The front door is not the only door anymore. A cellular telephone, a tablet, a television, and a laptop all bring the internet into a Cache Valley home. Some of what they bring is useful. Some of it is not.

What happens when an advertisement follows your kids from page to page?

What happens when the filter is an app a child can delete?

What happens when pornography, piracy, or a tracking company gets through because one device was never configured?

Unfortunately, we see that happen way too often. The house has rules. The internet does not.

A Router That Keeps the Rules

Offline Systems sells and installs home network routers configured to block the sites you do not want, on WiFi and on a wired connection. Adult content, intrusive advertisements, and movie, music, and software pirating can be kept out of the house. So can anything else you do not want inside.

The rule lives on the router, so every device that uses the house internet has to live with it. A phone that never got an app still gets the rule. A guest on the WiFi still gets the rule.

We are also happy to sit down with you and your family. We can talk about using the internet safely. We can talk about how companies track you, how to keep an online transaction secure, and how to prevent data theft. The router does the blocking. Somebody still has to explain why the rule exists.

What You Want Out, Stays Out

The point is not a clever router. The point is that the home belongs to the family, including the part that arrives through the wall.

You should be able to decide what comes into your house, on every device that uses your internet.
